You throw a lot of concepts of terms out there…and while I’m fascinated by the topic, I don’t always have definitions at my fingertips, and even when I do it can be hard to connect the dots.

E.g. Would be great to see an article that dives into the 4 bullet questions under ‘the new playbook’ section. (I know what an interconnect is, but not sure I follow what’s going on with that question, why it’s important, or even what ‘rare’ means in this case.)

But if you strictly write for peers, not for dilettantes like me, then I guess I’ll just have to muddle through.

Very useful article, I learned a lot. It’s a hairy proposition to invest in a 30 year capital project, when software major releases occur monthly.

But isn’t heat the one thing that’s not going away? I have heard about photonic chips for a while now…. Always in the future, but never in the present. Especially when you can now pack billions of gates onto silicon…. Can photonics really get there? I wonder. Does anything else reduce heat per bit to a meaningful degree? (No pun intended).

I’m also very interested in the electricity that feeds into those big compute centers. Is that not a bottleneck?… and are power producers subject to similar long-term risks?

Interested in any feedback; as I am a novice somewhat like the prior commenter-
