AI is going to change everything; Apple is way behind on AI; therefore, Apple is doomed.

I see this syllogism repeated incessantly, especially on Twitter, and, while it is rhetorically neat, it is also intellectually lazy. It’s the kind of argument that thrives in hype circles because it feels like foresight while actually being a kind of temporal myopia. Let’s dissect it.
